At MaMITs News, credibility, fairness, and accountability are central to our journalism. This Code of Ethics outlines the editorial and professional standards expected from everyone involved in our newsroom, including editors, contributors, reporters, freelancers, and publishing staff.
We are committed to responsible journalism that serves readers with integrity, transparency, and respect.
1. Our Editorial Values
The MaMITs Newsroom operates on the following principles:
Accuracy
We strive to publish information that is factual, verified, and supported by reliable sources. Accuracy takes priority over speed.
Fairness
We aim to represent stories fairly, avoid misleading framing, and seek relevant viewpoints when reporting on issues or individuals.
Independence
Editorial decisions are made independently and are not influenced by advertisers, sponsors, political interests, or external pressure.
Transparency
We are open about corrections, updates, sourcing limitations, conflicts of interest, and editorial processes.
Accountability
We take responsibility for our reporting and correct mistakes when they occur.
2. Plagiarism & Attribution Standards
Original reporting and proper attribution are mandatory.
All MaMITs News contributors are expected to:
- Produce original content whenever possible
- Properly credit information, quotes, research, images, and external reporting
- Attribute facts, statistics, and third-party material to credible sources
- Clearly distinguish original reporting from sourced information
Zero Tolerance for Plagiarism
We do not permit:
- Copying articles without attribution
- Republishing third-party work as original reporting
- Using AI or automation to reproduce copyrighted material without review or credit
Plagiarism or deliberate misrepresentation may result in immediate editorial action.
3. Gifts, Sponsored Trips & Freebies
To protect editorial independence, newsroom staff should avoid situations that may influence reporting.
Editors, contributors, and reporters should not accept gifts, payments, favors, or incentives intended to affect editorial coverage.
This includes:
- Paid promotions disguised as journalism
- Undisclosed sponsored experiences
- Gifts offered in exchange for favorable coverage
In rare situations where travel, event access, or hospitality is editorially necessary, relevant disclosures may be included for transparency.
4. Political Activity & Editorial Neutrality
MaMITs News encourages responsible and fair journalism.
Editorial staff involved in reporting should avoid political activities that could compromise credibility or create perceived bias.
This includes:
- Public campaigning on behalf of political candidates or parties
- Participating in political advocacy that conflicts with reporting responsibilities
- Allowing personal beliefs to influence factual reporting
Opinion and commentary content, when published, will be clearly labeled.
5. Social Media Conduct
Journalists and editorial staff represent MaMITs News both on and off platform.
We encourage responsible social media use that reflects professionalism and editorial credibility.
Staff members should:
- Avoid sharing knowingly false or misleading information
- Avoid disclosing confidential sources or unpublished reporting
- Distinguish personal opinions from newsroom reporting
- Engage respectfully in public discussions
Personal social media activity should not undermine trust in MaMITs News reporting.
6. Responsible Use of AI & Editorial Tools
MaMITs News may use AI-assisted tools to improve editorial workflows and content quality.
AI may support:
- Grammar and readability improvements
- Content organization and formatting
- Research assistance under editorial supervision
- Headline or structure suggestions
However:
- Human editors remain responsible for all published content
- AI does not replace editorial judgment
- We do not knowingly publish fabricated facts, quotes, or sources
- Content is reviewed before publication
Technology supports our journalism but does not replace editorial accountability.
7. Protecting Vulnerable Sources
We take extra care when reporting on sensitive situations or vulnerable individuals.
This includes:
- Minors and children
- Victims of crime or trauma
- Individuals in distress or unsafe conditions
- Anonymous tipsters or confidential sources
We may withhold identities or sensitive details when publication could create harm, privacy concerns, or safety risks.
Anonymous sources may be used only when there is a legitimate public interest and information cannot reasonably be obtained otherwise.
8. Diversity, Inclusion & Respect
MaMITs News is committed to respectful and inclusive journalism.
We aim to:
- Represent diverse voices and perspectives
- Avoid discriminatory language or stereotypes
- Treat all individuals fairly regardless of background, identity, religion, gender, caste, nationality, or beliefs
We believe inclusive reporting strengthens journalism and public trust.
9. Conflicts of Interest
Editorial contributors must disclose any personal, financial, or professional relationship that could influence reporting.
Examples include:
- Family or personal relationships with subjects of coverage
- Financial investments connected to stories
- Outside employment or advisory roles
Where conflicts exist, contributors may be reassigned or editorial disclosures may be added.

Reports involving ethics concerns, editorial conduct, plagiarism, or conflicts of interest can be sent to:

- Editorial corrections or warnings
- Removal of published content

Our goal is to maintain a newsroom culture built on trust, responsibility, and ethical reporting.
At MaMITs News, ethical journalism is not optional. It is part of how we earn reader confidence every day.
